How it works
One request. Four simple steps. Your decision.
StrataClerk exists to take work and worry off the shoulders of volunteer councils. Here is exactly what happens after you tell us what your building needs.
- 1
Tell us what your building needs
Fill in one short form. It takes about two minutes. No searching, no phone tag.
- 2
We find your perfect match
A real person on our team matches your job with the companies whose real performance in buildings like yours proves they can do it well.
- 3
We collect written proposals for you
We aim to bring you at least two competitive proposals whenever practical, so you can compare real options side by side.
- 4
You decide
Take your time and review the options with your council. We earn nothing from the trades, so there is no pressure to pick anyone - or anyone at all.
Behind the matching
Recommendations informed by real building histories
Through StrataReports, we’ve reviewed more than 10 million pages of strata documents from thousands of buildings across British Columbia - engineering recommendations, projects before and after completion, and what councils said after the work was done. That experience guides which professionals we bring to your project.
Common questions
You may be wondering…
- Who pays StrataClerk?
- Stratas do - never the trades. We take no commissions, referral fees, or paid listings from contractors, so our recommendations are made for your strata and no one else. While we get started, the service is currently offered to councils at no charge: it costs nothing to send a request, receive proposals, or say no to all of them.
- Do contractors pay to be recommended?
- No. Professionals cannot pay to appear in front of you, and we earn nothing when you hire someone. We choose who to bring to your project based on their track record in buildings like yours - not on any business relationship with us.
- Are we obligated to hire anyone?
- No. You review the proposals with your council and make your own decision. There is no obligation and no pressure. Saying no to every proposal is perfectly fine.
- How do you choose which professionals to recommend?
- Through StrataReports, we have reviewed more than 10 million pages of strata documents and project histories across British Columbia. We use that experience to match your project with professionals who have done similar work in buildings like yours.
- How many proposals will we receive?
- We aim to bring you at least two competitive proposals whenever practical, so your council can compare real options instead of relying on a single quote.
- What if our building needs something not listed on the site?
- Just ask. Start a task and describe what your building needs in your own words. If we can help, we will. If we can’t, we will tell you plainly.
- Will I have to talk to anyone on the phone?
- Not unless you want to. Getting started is one short form. If your project genuinely needs a conversation, we will arrange a call at a time that suits you - and you will always talk to a real person, never a machine.
- What happens after I send a request?
- A real person on our team reads your request and gets back to you within 2 business days, usually by email. We confirm the details, find suitable professionals, and collect written proposals for your council to review.
