- What is an EV Ready plan?
- It’s an electrical planning study that maps how your building can provide EV charging to every parking stall over time - assessing existing capacity, load management options, infrastructure routing, and costs. It gives the council a defensible, owner-approved framework instead of ad-hoc decisions each time someone buys an electric car.
- Is an EV Ready plan required to get rebates in BC?
- BC’s rebate programs for multi-family EV charging have generally required an approved EV Ready plan as a prerequisite for infrastructure funding, and the plan itself has been rebate-eligible. Programs and amounts change, so a current consultant proposal should confirm exactly what your strata qualifies for today.
- Does an EV Ready plan commit the strata to installing chargers?
- No. The plan is a decision-making document - it tells the council and owners what’s possible, in what phases, and at what cost. Many stratas complete the plan, claim available rebates on the planning work, and then let owners vote on if and when to build out the infrastructure.
